Silas: Five Months Old

July 10, 2013

You are doing better during tummy time. You’ll go about 20 minutes sometimes more at one ‘session’.

You have the same hair your brother did when he was a baby. Like a dandelion, it looks like you could blow and it all just fly away.

You finally got your feet! You’ve eyed them like crazy for the last month.

The look on your face in this picture cracks me up. You look so worried.

You are easily distracted while nursing. I have to be careful because I never know when you’ll just pop off to look in the direction of the TV or a familiar voice. I usually have to escape to a quiet(er) place in the house.

You can roll from your back to belly now. You seem to forget that you know how to roll from belly to back once that happens and you start to get pretty upset.

You are using the ‘da’ and ‘dada’ sounds.

Stats this month:

Weight: 17.4 lbs.

Length: 27 in.

Sizes: Size medium gDiapers! We’re cloth diapering now!

Sleep: You are taking fewer naps throughout the day. Still eating every three hours and sleeping through the night (10pm-6/7am).

Loves: Chewing on your toes (and everything else), standing, ‘This Little Piggy’, and watching people eat.

Dislikes: Getting ‘stuck’ on belly,

Milestones: Finding your feet, Rolling back to belly, Sitting unassisted for a short time (1-3 minutes)Β  and have breastfed for 150 days. We have introduced you to BLW (Baby Led Weaning) *NOTE* No, BLW is not weaning from the breast, it is simply the introduction of solid foods. Weaning is the UK term for adding new foods. No purees, just normal solid, whole, big people food.* You have such a huge interest when everyone is eating. You have tried pancake and toast. They were mostly a toy for you.

Loves: Being carried facing out, playing with Daddy, sucking your thumb, and chewing on everything possible.

Silas: Three Months Old

Before anyone says anything, yes I realize he is wearing the same shirt he was in his two month post. I’m making sure to get my money’s worth. πŸ˜›

You are such a talker! You are cooing and babbling like crazy! (Note to self: Upload those videos!)

I have lots of pictures of you sleeping lately. πŸ˜› They’re the only ones that don’t come out blurry because you are such a wiggle worm! And you’re just so precious!

You hold your head unassisted now. You’re getting to be such a big boy! It’s true you know… they grow up fast.

You found your thumb. Unfortunately… I’d rather you take a pacifier, but my attempts have been unsuccessful.

Silas: Two Months Old

April 10, 2013

Holy crap! You’re two months old! How did this happen?!?! Soon I’ll be going back to work and having to leave you for hours at a time. Sigh…

388690_10152768601775601_891241888_n-2mI’d swear you were just in my tummy yesterday. It’s so surreal. Your personality is really coming out. You smile now! It’s the cutest thing ever! I love it so much! You look to see where noises are coming from and you recognize certain people like your daddy and your siblings.

Finally lost your umbilical cord! So you were able to get your first real bath. You loved it. Never fussed a bit. We often call you ‘Little man’, ‘Man’ or ‘Shorty’. You’re awake more during the day, but not for long. You just LOVE your daddy! I’m pretty sure you’re going to be a daddy’s boy. You are always smiling and laughing with him. β™₯

You still have some baby acne, but it’s improved. You sleep like a champ. Just like your daddy. Sleeping through the night even (Holy engorgement!)! We are still breastfeeding! It’s going so wonderfully. I’m really worried about my supply once I start back to work though. Fortunately, I’m building a freezer stash.

Stats this month:

Weight: 12 lbs. 2 oz.

Length: 23Β½ in.

Sizes: Size 2 diapers, 0-3 month and 3-6 month clothes.

Sleep: Like a boss! During the day you wake about every three hours to eat and are sleeping from 10pm to 7am!

Loves: Diaper changes, playing with daddy, still nursing to sleep, car rides.

Dislikes: Sleeping flat on your back (Still having to sleep in the carseat because of reflux), pacifier, tummy time.

Milestones: Your first real smile πŸ™‚ Umbilical cord finally fell off so you got a real bath, breastfeeding for 59 days.

Silas: One Month Old

March 10, 2013

Now that the first month has finally come, I feel like we might finally have each other figured out.

We’ve mastered breastfeeding without the nipple shield!!! It was extremely difficult, but we got it! Your eating and sleep schedule are pretty easy to predict, which is so nice. You still like to wake every 2-3 hours at night, but that’s okay. You have a mild case of reflux, which makes sleeping difficult for you sometimes. The only way you’ll sleep is if you’re at an incline. So for now, you sleep in your carseat. Hopefully we can figure something else out. You love to nurse yourself to sleep, so my nipples are seriously paying for it. We’ve tried introducing the pacifier to you, but you are just not having it.

You have definitely got to be the most happy baby we’ve ever known! You almost never cry, and when you do, it’s the tiniest little whimper. You will whimper if you’re hungry, overstimulated, or needing a diaper change and that’s it! I’m afraid to get used to this!

I’m really surprised that your umbilical cord has not yet fallen off! I’m so ready to give you a real bath and not having to fold the diapers down from your bellybutton. Your brother and sisters cords fell off within the first two weeks. Doctor said that it’s normal though and looks like it’s drying as it should with no signs of infection.

Stats this month:

Weight: 10 lbs. 2 oz.

Length: 22ΒΎ in.

Sizes: Size 1 diapers; Some newborn outfits still fit, but mostly 0-3 month clothes.

Sleep: Still up about every 2-3 hours round clock!

Loves: Nursing to sleep, Moby wrap, being swaddled.

Dislikes: Dirty diapers, gas, pacifiers.
